Default Funniest movie ever made?

I am not a huge fan of Blazing Saddles nor of Steve Martin-so no Jerk here.
Animal House was pretty good but-Fast Times was pretty hilarious, Let It Ride has to be in every horse players top comedies- but

I'll go with Caddyshack, put Stripes, Trading Places close behind.

GReat call.

Airplane is hysterical from start to finish.

I was never a big fan of those Pink Panther movies,
kind of like Mel Brooks-I am sure High Anxiety is another Brooks comedy that most thought very funny. The Monty Python series is another one, I think these things are funny just not hysterically funny.

Kind of weird but I can't think of one Carrey movie that belongs,
and my wife is saying Ferris Bueller belongs on any of these lists-was funny but not quite as much as some of these others.

I would have to say Pulp Fiction, because it has some classic scenes -- Quentin Tarantino's rant, the $5 milkshake scene at the 50's bar, and the great question -- Do we need to stab her three times?

For a consolation prize, I would say a compilation of the best of National Lampoon Vacation series.

A lot of great moves mentioned!

Major League was a great movie, made me think of another great baseball comedy,
THe Bad News BEars-the original was a very funny movie.

Still my favorite line ever is ""Hey you outta think about taking Jesus Christ as your savior, instead of fooling around with all this.' 'Ahhh Jesus, I like him very much, but he no help with curveball"

"ARE YOU TRYING TO SAY JESUS CHRIST CAN'T HIT A CURVE BALL?""

i still crack up every time Harris says that!

Night Shift. I don't know why, but that was always one of my favorites, too.

Lot of good ones already mentioned. Something About Mary, Clerks and Slapshot.

A forgotten classic I laughed a lot @ It's a Mad, Mad World. What a cast.

I have laughed to tears at non-comedys when Ed Harris melts down in Glengarry Glenross or even Baldwin's epic 5 minutes I am in tears.

I'd go as far to say Baldwin's was the best 5 minute acting job ever.....outstanding.

Mad Mad World one of my all time favs..

On the same order History of the World Part 1......Mel Brooks "it's good to be King"
and Harvey Korman as 'Count de money'.....

Watched Something about Mary half dozen times....

SUrprised no fans of the 70's movies posted Murder By Death-wasn't that a SEllers flick?

Slapshot was a good one-what great characters the Hanson brothers were that ESPN used them in ads 30yrs after the fact.

Beta & VHS in the 80's did more for the connections of that movie than the screen revenue I would guess.....and The Jerk is not forgotten alas, I love the beginning of that one too. Don't see that one on cable at all

Havana starring Robert Redford

a successful gambler cavorting in Cuba meets a hot woman from sweden who is a member of the revolution

he successfully gets her out of a torture prison by beating the officer in charge in poker

she then goes to santa domingo 200 miles away

he subsequently goes after her driving into a war zone after knowing her 4 days and turns down a monster poker game

i got pretty close to a war zone-maybe 20-40 miles and could go no father-chickened out

then he bluffs a high level member of the military and gets her husband out capture as well

hilarious-preposterous
