Professional handicappers are much more accurate than weathermen.

Compare me to a lawyer, used car salesman, anything but a weatherman!

my memory is say 38 years

we have had 2 feet of snow in 1 day at the most 3 times-officially never or once

i know its el nino-and the biggest storm about 10 years ago-probably 30 inches in about a day in a half happened during el nino
everything in northern de has to break right

but a couple of feet in 1 day????????????????

No el nino or fast moving jet stream equals storms stay longer and dump more snow.

This is true-even if it isn't it is close enough,

yet they spend billions a year on weather forecasting.

its an el nino year and we have already had 1 blizzard

the only true blizzard i have experienced was in an el nino year

i remember they warned people atleast 3 days in advance

the low redeveloped in louisianna spawning tornadoes down there

another low redeveloped off the coast and exploded and remained stuck due to hi pressure off the northern atlantic

i was out in a big truck and must have seen atleast a 100 foot drift long that blocked the road

I associate el nino with warm southern flow,
given how cold it has been-it either must be at the end of a cycle or the cycle is over and they just haven't figured that out yet.

the other storm you are thinking of was in 1993-circumstances were slightly different,
that was a massive storm that blanketed a ridiculous portion of the eastern US in snow.

its on wilkapedia

its an el nino year and is expected into the sping

south-central/eastern is expected to be colder than normal

i think the blizzards in an el nino can sneak into drier than normal conditions

2010 Prediction
"EL Niño is expected to continue at least into the Northern Hemisphere spring 2010."[8]

Summary for January-March 2010
With the strengthening of EL Niño during December 2009 and with above-average sea surface temperatures (SST) of the central and eastern equatorial Pacific Ocean regions, EL Niño will continue pushing increased moisture and temperature into North America.

It says it is a prediction and uses december as an example of bringing increased temperatures to NA-meanwhile my heating bill was highest ever recorded in Dec. I think of el nino as warm moist air and for the most part it has been cold and dry. I don't have the patience to wade thru the crap to see where in the cycle the geniuses think it currently resides.

blizzard warning for 30 miles south of here friday and sat

12-18 inches here
south 12-24 inches

laurel philly even ny might be canceled on sat

if storm full force hits might screw up some super bowl parties

have just seen too many of the huge storm predictions turn into nothing not even flurries
almost always wrong with the track of storm

maybe slightly better than the best baseball hitters

Probably nothing more than flurries...you know, those weather people are almost never right with those over-hyped predictions.
