A majority of Canadian hockey players shoot left-handed.
Most Americans shoot right-handed. No one is sure why.

Liberal scumbagism north of the border?

Different look for American goalies?

Maybe US only buys righthanded sticks(curve)

I'm sure they can shoot either way- I don't even know if curved blades are allowed in the Olympics, it's been a while since I watched an Olympic game.

Good info. My brief foray into middle of the night skating-rink hockey had me on left wing (naturally), and shooting left even though I was a right-hander in baseball.

88 St. Atlantic Ave. Ozone Park we played fast pitch stickball between the handball courts.

We got too good against each other and decided we would only hit lefthanded because we were losing too many Spaldings/Pennsies so we got pretty good lefty also. I think the right eye forward was the key. So in baseball I was pretty mediocre from both sides.

Yeah, I played my fast-pitch stickball (we called it "steam") at PS 95 in Hollis, Queens. Very short porch, so we reversed on hittting as well. Spaldings and tennis balls were dear in those days. I could usually make contact lefty, but rarely for power.

We had similar deal at our playground, the big kids, 13 to 15 had to bat opposite hand and little kids 12 and below batted natural....Had a short right field that dropped into a creek...Lost a lot of balls....so changed the rules, anyone hitting it in the creek was out...
Later in our company league i was a switch hitter and pretty decent if i say so myself...lol..

Our long ones(and fouls) went into Atlantic Ave., would get hit by a bus or car and you may find it a few blocks away if you were lucky.

When we broke one in half we would use it. Those things were like trying to hit a butterfly.

I turned on Curling today and could not turn it off...the US mens match was great. My wife laughed when she got home, then proceeded to watch the US ladies match for an hour.

There is something about it that is addictive.

How do those guys train for Curling? I could imagine the sweepers doing housework, but what about the bowlers? Deep knee bends?

The skip of the US team looks like he does 16oz curls, and played like it today.

That's crazy, was talking to my sister on the phone and she tells me my brother in law and
niece have been watching it for hours, too funny.
