Default Harness racing is bull**** and should be abolished

There was a $1.5 million dollar race at Woodbine and nobody even noticed.

What a joke this sport is.

100000% agree. Not only is it followed by 141 people nationwide, it is as crooked as any wrestling match. I've seen more 2-5 shots break before the race than I care to admit.

It should be shut down immediately.

such an ignorant comment. First off, your comment illustrates you're a chalk eating weasel by betting a 2-5 shot in the first place. Secondly, your comment is completely baseless and is only anecdotal. You may notice the 2-5 shot breaking more but I assure you the number of breakers are disparately longshots. Again, breaking stride is more likely in a trotting gait, so don't bet trotters. To say they are crooked is asinine and shows yourself to be clue. The amount of fixing that goes on in trotters is the same as thoroughbred racing, if not less.

ironically if you actually watched the 1.5 million dollar race, Mohawk was packed to the rafters. Harness racing is big in Ontario.

i would guess handle on harness racing in america is bigger than QH racing and QH racing has lots of huge stakes races. i know it is at our track and our otb system. I mean i could be wrong, but i would guess

Harness racing does not prsoper in Ontario. The only reason anybody can make a living with that **** is because purses are subsidized by the idiot tax, i.e. slot revenue.

There are probably a dozen dinky-doo harness tracks in Southern Ontario Who don't do in 15 races, what Turf Paradise does in 1 race.

Somebody needs to take harness racing out back like old yeller and put it out of its misery.

why abolish it if some people like it? is it taking anything away from you or anyone by being around? it certainly is employing a significant amount of people

I'm sure there is a mandate by the government to support the harness racing industry.

Those funds could be better used elsewhere.

You could save Fort Erie with a months worth of purses at Mohawk.

Instead of harness racing they could turn all those sulkys into wheelchairs for the poor.

is mohawk owned by the government?? if thats the case, then your argument makes sense. But if mohawk is a private business, why would they give money to another track to support them?

no capping harness trifecta play.

take the third highest win pool in the last minute and make the bottom key on the trifecta(x). 1st,2nd and 4th hight win pool put on the top- a,b,c. 5th highest or anyone else you want on the bottom end(d)

No, but slot revenue is owned by the Government, and that is the only reason why Mohawk exists.

Even a hard core harness hater would have to admit that Mohawk is a more viable betting track than Fort Erie. I prefer TBreds also but I guarantee you I would much rather try to win some money at Meadowlands or Mohawk than Fort Erie or Fairmont or Fing Penn National. I'll grant you there is much cheating and the small tracks can be a waste of time but there is a bigger fan base than you think..

Ontario NEEDS Fort Erie. You need a B track for horses that can't cut it at Woodbine for whatever reason.

What we don't need are 14 harness tracks that do nothing other than serve as a front for slots.

I never understood that one bit.

Harness racing handles far more money in the US than the Quarterhorses ever will...
Until recently, nobody east of the Mississippi had a clue what QH racing was..
Pompano Park ran both QH and harness at one time and the harness survived..
Why? Because there was so much cheating and bull**** with the QH's...
Don't like harness racing? Don't bet it..
To think that cheating is worse at a harness track than at some of the B and C tracks for the runners is insane because a $2500 claimer is the same on either side and everyone needs to eat....

Thumbs down I DON'T GET IT !!!!!

I CAN'T STAND IT !!!
YOU EVER SEE THE PEOPLE THAT GO TO FREEHOLD OR YONKERS !!!!!!
AT FREEHOLD THEY PAY HORSES JUST TO FILL THE FIELDS !!!
CANT STAND ANY TRACK WHERE 6 HORSES ARE 2 TO 1 OR LESS !!!!
GO TO FREEHOLD AND WATCH 20 BUCKS CHANGE A HORSE FROM
3 TO 1 TO 6 TO 5 !!!!!
AND EVERY RACE AT FREEHOLD THERES AN INTERNATIONAL TIP !!!!
