Haha, oh well -- thats racing. I think the class should have been 3-4YO Open Handicap, since Dewy was automatically assigned the 5 hole.

Should have done an Aussie on him and assigned a twenty yard handicap.

The REAL Question is why on EARTH would Ray Schnittker race for a pitance of $15,000 at Vernon Downs on Friday Night instead of taking home $250,000 at Chester on Sunday?????

I'll assume since he has already made almost 2 million that he probably doesn't need the money??????

Of course, If your THE CO-OWNER, don't you need to ask this question?????

The program says Exacta and Pick-3 wagering only. Guess that means there's no Win wagering.

The only thing I can guess is he (they) would rather ride the undefeated streak as long as possible. Even if he doesn't like the 5/8 track they make a bunch more money just hitting the board. In fairness the hambo is a tough couple weeks and they might have just wanted a breather. Dewey was used hard in the big race just to win. Watch the fillie (Snow White) on Sunday. Not sure who else is entered but she had a soft week after missing the oaks.

I don't remember ever seeing a wagering race with no win bets accepted.

Me neither. Why not just bar him? Of course, that's always an iffy propsiiton. Anybody remember Busy Life at Delaware many years ago? Barred and got beat.

Because if you bar him, as per NYSRWB rules, you lose the exacta due to having only 4 wagering interests available. If you don't bar him and allow win wagering, then you open yourself to a huge minus pool. Difficult situation.
