That is EXACTLY what I am saying! It takes more than one preseason for a QB to get comfortable will all the changes of a new offense, trust in the o-line, timing with all new wide outs, among many many other things no matter how talented they are. Drew Brees is the exception not the norm. There are plenty of QB's who played great in their second season with new teams. Many were listed in this thread. Why do you think that is?

Randall Cunningham got Randy Moss in year 2. I'm going out on a limb here and say that might have had more to do his numbers than him knowing the offense better. The 'go long and I'll throw it as a far as I can' play really doesn't take that much time to figure out.

Bledsoe put up numbers on par with his glory days the first year with a new team, and then crashed and burned in year two. He didn't do that once, but twice: Buffalo and Dallas. Maybe he didn't get the year 2 memo.

Effectiveness is based on the talent of the player and the talent of the team. Not some 2 year retard learning curve applied to everyone whether you're Peyton Manning or Rex Grossman, and you're going to either the Saints or the Falcons. Drew Brees would have had a little different year 1 had he landed on the Raiders because he had less talent to work with. Not because the offense and timing were more complicated.

Kurt Warner. Technically 99 was his second year with the Rams, third string behind Tony Banks in 98-think he threw one pass and spent much of his time away from camp in NFL Euro lol, but comparing the 98 Rams offense to the 99 Rams offense is like comparing Britney Spears to the Beethoven. Mike Martz bringing in a new offense and rookie Torry Holt and Az-Hakim had an immediate impact. Kurt didn't even have a full preseason, was thrown in Week 1 after Green's season ending injury at the end of preseason. Vermeil crying "we'll rally around Kurt Warner" didn't really give us much confidence in Warner's preparation. The rest is history.
